I used to live here years ago. TRM drive and Lumumba drive look congested. Poor urban planning and architects' and developers' insistence on building beacon to beacon with no regard for the streets/ pedestrian walkways, the environment, parking, markets e.t.c. The neighborhood only starts to look good from around 8:29. The new royal suburbs project 3:10 looks good though.

I looked at the land distance between these cities and the premium is expensive even from a European perspective. For this money you can buy a high-speed train ticket for a similar distance if you buy it in advance. This price is especially bad when you look at the price of a flight between the two cities, for similar money you can get faster service (including airport procedures) than this. The interior of the premium carriages doesn't look bad for the passengers(unless you are an extra tall and big person, the guy in the vest looks a bit packed in it 6:04, even though he doesn't look like a space gifted), but it's going to be hell for the staff in charge of cleaning or maintenance.

12k for that for me it's a NO. Too exorbitant for the 5 hour journey.

What's is important is that you have a range of choice. Even flights are the same time, it doesn't make sense saying the time us the same 😂. Check how much first class charge...

Re comparison with airline - you need to take into account the airport is some distance from the centre of both Nairobi and Mombasa so that adds a lot of time plus planes are more than likely to be delayed plus waiting for luggage etc etc. A tourist will also be able to enjoy the scenery on the train - I even saw a gorilla in January unless it was a man dressed in a gorilla outfit. Another passenger saw it to and we just looked at each other speechless. I personally would not pay 12,000

HELL, Yesssss! My son (14) and I will be sitting in those KSH 12k seats when we arrive at NBO next week! We had a change in plans and decided to live in Mombasa instead, but the cost to change the flight or fly with 4 large checked bags is MUCH more than KSH 24k. I expected to pay for 4 First Class tickets (2 for luggage) and trust luck to get them all adjacent. BUT with this new option available, HELL YEAH, we’ll take 2 tickets, please and thank you! 🤣 So happy you posted this video. The Ancestors are at WORK, y’all! We’re returning forever. They should focus on increasing the numbers of passengers. More economy coaches would be the way to go. If i have 12000 i would rather pay for a flight which takes 45 min. The train is supposed to target passengers who can only use ground travel. Trying to conpete with ait travel is not a winning strategy. Improving the econmy class is a good idea. I would add a class between economy and first class and call it economy premium with features of both economy and first class. However my focus would be on increasing economy class spaces.

Kempeski charges 2 million a night during valentine. There will charge 140k dinner and you will try to book you wlll be surprised fully booked. For those who says flight there are different type of travellers this are for luxury tour.. Ask tour company.. Nairobi mombassa... Chopper ride. Range rover full tank. Chatted flight. You will understand better.Thts why they have different classes. We have budget flight. It cost almost 55k to watch premiere league Live but a dime at you own comfort at home. When l was in uk Stick to your lane.This type of train exist in many countries. Check prices difference between business class and economy matters flight you will arrive same time.

It's good for everyone to understand that there is something for everyone; economy, business, and premium. Pay as per your pocket. Whoever says they can't pay 12K/20K for premium is clearly not the target market in the first place. Even if they go for a flight instead, they'll still go to the economy class and not the business class. The SGR premium is targeting the flight business class passengers, who are clearly not complaining about the 12K/20K on a train. They are already paying 20K plus for a one-way trip on the flight. Their one way trip on a flight can now offer them a return trip on the train and sitting alone unlike in the flight, where you sit sholder to sholder with a fellow passenger. The premium target market now has more options. Viva Kenya Railways for taking care of everyone.

It's like telling a business person on duty to take a cruise ship from US to Kenya. For business people time is the first priority. Why would you more than a flight ticket and 4hours more than a flight duration. They should brand this as Tourist Coaches because only a tourist who has time and wants to explore nature would opt for this, no business people on duty.

Jambo, asante for the video. First of all I hope that these protests will stop soon, and after that the whole situation will not have changed a bit for the people. I wanna book a ticket from Europe to Nairobi, but when I saw what was going on yesterday at Pipeline near airport JKIA, it all doesnt look very well, to say it polite, these protests ca also chase cash bringing tourists away. And I think Kenya has other problems than installing executive coaches for 12k oneway/20k return. Who needs that? I know about the income of an average kenyan. And I have flown so many times from JKIA and also Wilson to Mombasa and also Ukunda, it costs maybe 12-15k return depending when u book. I personally would not pay for 1 or even 2 persons executive coaches. Who should use it? American, european and chinese tourists? I can even rent a car in Nairobi for 7-10 days for 20k (ok not me, but kenyans can get that rate). In my opinion it is too early in this whole situation to install executive, but anyway, good luck Kenya!

Even in comparison with European trains it’s still a bit too expensive. They should focus on electrification and completing the remaining phase to malaba. But yeah I would pay for it just to experience it.
